Adverse seasonal conditions are currently resulting in poor pasture growth, particularly in Queensland and New South Wales, and may result in livestock destocking and higher slaughter rates in the coming weeks ahead, this will put cattle prices under pressure, and also feedlotters who will start to feel the pinch on supply of feed stock in the long term if seasonal conditions do not improve on the eastern states.
On another note Futurus shares have tumbled 20% today based on likely effects of the drought -
Today the National Australia Bank reported:
“Confidence levels in beef, wheat, cotton, wool dairy and farm chemicals all increased significantly, the bank reported.”
