Some districts in WA have experienced the best start for the season in 20 years so lets hope it also moves over to the eastern states, northern cattle men are having particularly rough time of late with a shortage of feed available for stock and may be forced to off load cattle onto the market.

Other news:

Large scale sales of Corn made by US 120,000 metric tons so far this week
Egypt purchased approximately 55,000 metric tons of Hard Red Winter Wheat.
Shipment Jul 1-15 and also approximately 55,000 metric tons of Soft White Wheat. Also shipment Jul 1-15 (all purchased from the US).

North West US experiencing drought conditions ( so we are not the only ones),while India is predicting a large increase in plantings this year because of expected effects of the monsoons, so will place oil seeds under the pump for the coming season, harvesting of the wheat crop is expected to be completed late this month with yields up compared to last season, so would have some extra tonnages for export into the China market. The Reserve Bank of India late last week predicted farm output will grow 3% in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2006

Turkey, Syria, Egypt, Iraq and Iran are currently harvesting from now until August, depending on yields there maybe some room to export into these countries (except Iraq - a newly gained US customer, I wonder how much the Iraq agricultural ministers cut is?).

As to the Iraq rejecting the Wheat shipments from Australia, its part of the game of trade just like this time last year when Pakistan traders purchased wheat expecting the yields to be low in Pakistan and then they were caught out by a bumper crop and tried to reject the Australian wheat because of alleged mould. Cant trust anyone now days ...
