I have a 5 acre hobby farm in West Gippsland on which I breed mixed breed sheep and have done for over 12 years.
3 years ago I bought a new ram (4yo) The first season all the lambs were ok. Last year and this year I have lost 4 -5 out of 12 lambs to what I believe to be white muscle disease. The lambs have "gone" in the back legs, staggering and unable to walk or run without falling They also have a pathetic mournful bleat.
Different vets have said it is a lack of selenium.Last year after lambing I put a pellet of selenium in the gut of each ewe and the ram. This year when the new lambs were born I injected them with "5 in 1 with selenium" at marking and then 5 weeks later, but I still have had 4 crook lambs at the age of about 16 weeks or less.Perhaps it is the ram! I don't know what else to do.

I have spoken to vets and they have said it seems like a lack of selenium The DPI said it could be a vitamin B1 deficiency. I have tried both with out any change.
