Interesting to note that the cattle futures current settlement price is currently at a 18 cent premium to the current index, and yet the following delivery month is trading at a premium of 28 cents.

If the rains come in the east we could see some swings in this market!, however lets pray they don't come to late.

15 head of cattle average weight 386 kilos live weight, (Vealer Steers C2-3) of with a average price of:
176 cent per kilo live weight compared to the current futures market going forward.
JUL06 contract gives a average premium of $23.16 per head.
