Graphs showing Indian Production, Consumption and Imports 1985 to 2005 year to date.
Note :
As can be plainly seen on the import graph, India only ever imports wheat to supplement supply, as production levels increase we can expect moderate demand from India, their main problem is transportation costs to large cities which add between 10% to 15% to the cost of wheat making imports more attractive, this situation maybe be solved if the Indian government can solve these logistical problems in a more cost effective manner.
