The NZ dollar is trading around 74.66 US cents, this may prove a great boon to Dairy product exporters here in Australia - if the dairy industry can meet the demand and can get access to the markets overseas.
NZ Fonterra Coop account for 40% of the international trade in butter, milk powder and cheese - with figures like that it is no wonder they hedge there currency risk out to 15 months in advance. If the NZ dollar keeps rising next year NZ dairy farmers prices could fall approx 12% - 14%.
