The pakistan wheat crop is looking good – with yields up by a expected 7% per acre yield. However wheat flour prices have decreased by 4% compared to the corresponding period last year.
The much-publicized Iranian wheat self-sufficiency program said that the government has failed to provide financial facilities required for the purchase of surplus wheat crops from local Iranian farmers.
According to a senior Iranian commerce ministry official the budget for extending wheat subsidies would face a deficit of four trillion rials by March 2006, he then stressed that the government would most probably not be able to purchase the entire stock from farmers during the period.
Wonder where the money went? -
Nuclear power stations do cost a bit I'll be thinking.
Sales this week:
The Philippines purchased approximately 40,000 metric tons of US milling wheat. Shipment is slated for Aug-Sep.
India:
Up until a few weeks ago grain traders were wondering if India would export wheat from its new crop. Now, they are debating if it will need to import grain.
This fast-changing scenario, is thanks to an anticipated drop in India's output and will likely bolster worlds wheat prices and keep the global grain market on tenterhooks until a clear picture emerges by the middle of next month.
Earlier forecasts were for a crop of around 75 million tonnes, this will likely be revised down 5 million tonnes on the back of hailstorms and unseasonal rains during the crops flowering season.
Further week sales:
