Wheat prices in Chicago rose 6.6 percent, after hot weather in the southern Great Plains was said to threatened crops that farmers will be harvesting during the next two months. Those who lock in their wheat via futures or options should look to take advantage of any price spikes caused by these day traders reacting to these events.
Interesting to note that we have been getting a lot of inquiry lately for feed grain – oats etc from clients here in WA, as they now are starting to restock farms with livestock to take advantage of the expected extra feed, and also to assist in gaining a bit of extra income from the livestock as the real price of grains is not really keeping pace with input costs, such as fertilizer and fuel costs, one client is currently using 10,000 litres of fuel per week sowing his fields.
